Religion Brings Out the Worst in People

This is the point I was trying to make on a religion thread about a month ago, but people were so caught up in “my church is THE ONE true church, the rest of you are gonna burn” that I don’t think anyone even read my post.

I grew up in a religion crazed family with 264 members. Of them 80% where Mormons proud to be desended from on of the founding families, and lived with great expectations that God himself couldn’t stand up to. The remaining 20% were of several other faiths including :Seventh Day Adventist, Pentacostal, Baptist, Methodist, Christian Science, Shaker, Witchcraft, Wicca, Shamanism, Budist, and a few others.

As a result of multi faiths in one family, many bitter fueds have broken out, some violent, most spiteful, all with the intent on “punishing the sinner” and “teaching him/her the error of their ways”. The result is, that today we have a broken family. The only conversations are bitter and filled with hate…most of that hate in the form of threats quoted from religious texts (Bible, B of M, etc)….

here’s the thing that gets me:
all 100% of the 264 family members regardless of faith, both the Christian and the non-Christian “claim” to follow the teachings of Jesus, wither they believe him to be Son of God or a prophet or a just wise teacher….so why than, do they teach doctrins of punishment and damnation? Didn’t Jesus teach love in all things, love your enemy, help the poor, be a peacemaker? Why if Jesus taught such simple things, like love and peace, why do he people who claim to follow those teachings not practice what they themselves are telling other to do?

This is what I believe, and why I follow no organized religion. I have tried countless times to explain this belief to my family, in an attempt to stop their fueding, trying to show them that fighting about their faith is only hurting them, that no matter what they call the Creator, or how the worship, they are still worshiping the same Creator. But this only resulted in their saying I was posessed with an evil spirit and my being nicknamed the child of satan by a few of them, accussing me of trying to change their faith. I never tried to change anyones belifes, never tried to convert anyone to anything, I only tried to show them that they needed to stop fighting.

oh well, I guess they just enjoy fueding about religion. I have come to the conclusion that they like to feel superior than other faiths, it gives them a bit of power or so they think, and gives them the right to bully the rest of the family. I have stopped trying to understand the family’s religious battles anymore. My hope is that someday they well learn to disagree without being disagreeable.

update:

they have taken the ventalator out 2 days ago, he is trying to talk, but still not able too; they are trying to help him walk again, but his motor skills are very poor, so the doctor is doing an MRI this morning to make sure that there has not been any brain damage.

sorry, I can’t yet tell you more about how this happened… the corruption and greed of out town manager that lead to my dad’s dier state is a bit much for me to write right now, I am still without my computer, and too stressed to try to write about it right now.

update:

they are trying to ween him off the vetalator today, they say it still may be a while before they can actually take it off entirly, but they are lowering the oxegan level from 100% to 55% and they are gonna try to keep lowering it every day.

he woke up for a short while, and was able to nod yes and no, but they have him sedated now, cause being awake again was too stressful on his system, cause he’s so weak now

they are also starting him on a feeding tube today, cause they think his system is ready to handle it now

other stuff happening, but still homeless so using someone elses computer and have no time to explain… well try to keep you updated

Prayers Needed For EK’s Dad

hi guys, sorry it has been so long, my dad has been in the hospital in a coma for the past few weeks, there is too much to explain right now, as I don’t have internet access at the moment, cause our house was condemned by the police when they came into the house to get my dad into an ambulance… my dad has been on a ventaltor for almost 2 weeks now, and last night he started dialisis, cause his kidneys have shut down.

please pray for him and me and the 3j’s,

I keep getting messages asking “Who Is EelKat? “, so I have written this post, so’s you don’t have to send me messages about it anymore.

Who Is EelKat?

Those who know me personaly, know that I also go by the name of EelKat. Thus, I am often asked why. Why is a simple yet complex answer.

The more appropriate question should be not why but, who. Who is EelKat? EelKat is a character from an epic series that I started. Miss Kitten the EelKat, as she was originally called in 1978, is a black bobcat~like creature based on the tailless cat beast from mythology, known as Tailypoe. The name EelKat, came from my love of eels and the fact that she was a bobcat.

As the EelKat story expanded she went on to become the co-owner of The Twighlight Manor an ancient stone 500+ room haunted mansion situated deep in the heart of The Twighlight Forest, owned by Sir Roderic Lincandoia Swanzen. EelKat is also part owner of White Rock former haunted mansion turned asylum for the criminally insane.

The Twighlight Manor characters were created based on UFO sightings that took place in the forest behind my house in Maine in 1978 and 1982. I was one of the witnesses to these sighting.

The combination of events that summer, resulted in the creation of a black bobcat come to earth from another galaxy, took up residence in a haunted mansion, and raised eels for pets. She was named EelKat, and she was in essence the alter ego of myself, as I wanted to be at that time in my life and I set out writing a book chronicling the history of the haunted house, which itself as it turns out was built buy aliens as a secret earth base-camp, and is not actually haunted, rather what humans calls ghosts are really aliens. In the past 27 years what started as a simple story, has since become a saga spanning over a dozen volumes following the Swanzen family from the building of the Manor in the late 1300’s up to the current time.

When I came online in 1997 I started useing EelKat as my online name, and do so everywhere I go.
